Home organizing serving southeast Michigan
At The Feathered Nest, our goal is to transform spaces and enhance lives through sustainable and functional organizing solutions. We are dedicated to creating harmonious environments that reflect our clients' unique lifestyles while promoting eco-friendly practices. With compassion, integrity, and inclusivity at the heart of our work, we strive to empower individuals and families to maintain organized spaces, fostering a sense of peace and well-being. Our commitment extends to actively engaging with and supporting our metro Detroit community, making it a more organized and connected place to live and work.
I'm Veronica, a Certified Home Organizer with a passion for renewing spaces to enhance your life. I’ve spent more than a decade as a civil servant building community partnerships and with the joyful chaos of raising a toddler, I understand the importance of harmony and functionality in the home. Having grown up in metro Detroit and earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Wayne State University, my roots are firmly planted in southeast Michigan. Before returning to Michigan, my career took me West. I draw inspiration from Earthship design principles that I encountered while living in New Mexico and the Xeriscaping philosophies utilized in Arizona. I pride myself on meeting clients where they are at and creating a safe, judgment-free zone where we can create simple systems and practices that allow you to spend more time and energy on what you love.
A 30-minute casual introduction so you can get to know me, I can get to know you, your needs and your space. I recommend clients utilize a phone for this meetup as it’s easier to walk around and orient me to the space and project you have in mind. We’ll talk through what a collaboration with The Feathered Nest might look like for your project and mutually decide if we’d like to move forward together.
A short, in-home visit so that I can take the precise measurements to begin sourcing product options. This time also helps to orient me to your space so we can hit the ground running once we decide on a date to begin your project. In-home consultations are conducted on as as-needed, project-specific basis.
If your project requires specific organizational tools to make the most of your space, I will independently research options and make recommendations. I can procure these items for you, or you can obtain them yourself if you prefer. Organizing does not need to include purchasing dozens of identical items from The Container Store. While that may be a client’s individual aesthetic (and we love a good Elfa closet system), we can source from thrift stores, your local Buy Nothing group, or other retailers that are more cost-effective. We may be able to repurpose items you already have in your home for your project.
Paring down is essential to remove what is necessary and to make room for what is loved and needed. We will classify items by those you wish to keep and those which have served their purpose and for which we can find a new home. I'd love to work through this process with you as you know your needs best, but if your schedule is tight I can certainly do the work of paring down on my own if we have communicated clear boundaries and priorities.
Everything will have a home, and the solutions we implement will be individual to you, your preferences, and how you move through your day. If you share your space with others, we will account for their needs as well.
The Feathered Nest will look to donate, repurpose or r euse as many items as possible through our networks, or will work with your preferred organization. We do not function as resellers, but can provide you with resources to do so online or connect you with local consignment stores. My guideline is: If I can fit it in my vehicle (and I can fit a lot), I will take it with me when I go. Should there be an excess of items or large, bulky furniture we can discuss the options available for removal.
We will offer a final walkthrough for everyone who shares the space to familiarize them with the new systems and provide a recommended maintenance plan for staying organized. Our goal is for you to be able to sustain our organization plan as long as it serves you, but if you would like us to come back for a refresh of a particular project or to start a new one, we’d be glad to work with you again.
