We love furry friends and tiny humans. Should they start to impede the process (cats just love to curl up on the pile of clothes we are sorting) I may ask that they be moved to another area to keep our process moving along smoothly.
I am self-sufficient while working onsite at a client’s home. I will bring shoe covers or a clean pair of slippers to wear during our work. If we are working in a small space, I recommend utilizing another, clear area where we can sort and pare down items. I will bring my own water bottle and snacks to keep me fueled and working at my best. Please advise of any allergies I should keep in mind (i.e. peanut allergy). I do appreciate access to a restroom, and removal of any artificial air fresheners (such as Glade plug-ins) from the project space.
We will never put clean items away on a dirty shelf. Beyond light dusting/wipe down of the project area and sweeping up after ourselves, we do not provide cleaning services.
No worries! We’ve all been there. I handle my job with the utmost discretion and maintain a judgment-free atmosphere. If I come across any private/sensitive items in my work, I will simply set them aside and quietly make you aware. Depending on the item, I may ask that you handle it for the remainder of the process. As a member of the American Society of Professional Organizers (ASPO), I abide by the ASPO Code of Ethics, which includes: Members shall hold all information provided by the client as private and confidential and not disclose any information or photographs about the client, their family or project, without express written prior consent of the client.
Hoarding disorder has been formally classified by the American Psychological Association as a form of obsessive-compulsive and related disorders. Any attempt or encouragement by others to discard hoards can cause extreme anxiety. As such, we will refer clients to other organizations that specialize in this delicate work.

Yes, but not in the traditional sense. When you see staging on TV, it usually involves putting everything you own into storage and renting matching furniture. At The Feathered Nest, we work with what you have in your home and advise on what to tuck away and how to arrange the pieces you have to make your home shine and appeal to the most buyers.
At The Feathered Nest, we prefer to work one project at a time. This has many benefits, such as gaining a deeper understanding of your preferences and how you function in your space to better tailor organizing solutions. Additionally, organizing one space can create a “domino effect” for other spaces. For example, if we decide to move certain items from one room to another that can organically lead us to our next project.

Community engagement is one of our core values at The Feathered Nest. Nonprofit, youth-oriented, and education organizations may reach out directly to discuss project needs and we’ll see how we can help.
